Loss

“Hello mom. How are you?”, I said as I answered the call on my phone. “I’m fine but we just lost your Uncle G”, my mom replied. "What?", I said. And then silence.
I had just been informed that a dear uncle of mine had passed on. Prior to this phone call, I had lost a number of close family members over the years that I can remember – two uncles, two cousins, and my grandfather. Those hurt but this recent one was like a stab in the back because I just started to get really close to this uncle. He died after a brief illness and that was it.
I remember feeling numb for a while and had several thoughts run through my mind the whole day. The other deaths happened several years ago but now, being more mature, it hit me how fleeting life really is. He was a beacon in the family, greatly admired, with a kind heart and generous too. He was loved by many and had made such an impact in his field. But now he is no more.
I guess I am here to tell you to cherish every moment you have here on earth and live a good life. Be kind. Take care of yourself. Enjoy the company of family and friends. Enjoy your life. Make an impact. Live a legacy. Let people go to bed thanking God that you are alive. Hold no grudges. Make no enemies. Trust God. So that when we are called home (because that day will surely come), we will have zero regrets.
Have you lost anyone dear to you? How did you cope with the loss?
Until my next post, stay safe, stay strong and keep hope alive!
Love,
Peony N Spice
